Oat Eggless M&M/Smarties Cookies Gifts

Easy peasy Oat M&M cookies are just that perfect treat with a glass of milk or to dunk into a cuppa! Actually to be honest I’m neither of those type of people I don’t like milk and definitely hate dunking a cookie or biscuit into my cup of tea, who does that?! Well unfortunately my kids do, they like to dunk biscuits and cookies into milk and they love it!

The one thing I will say about using Smarties instead of M&Ms is that the Smarties don’t seem to keep the vibrant colours once baked in the oven, I think it’s something to do with the natural food colouring they use in the Smarties. Where as M&Ms do seem to keep their bright colours even after bakings…must be all those E numbers and additives.

These cookies are the perfect recipe become a food present, as you know, I love my food presents from Chutneys, Jam, Cookie mix jars and now a cookie recipe mix bag. As I’ve come up with a an eggless recipe with just using butter these are perfect to proportion up or down depending on what size you need to fill a bag.

There is a secret to get soft and chewy cookies even without eggs, shall I spill the beans?! Why not there is nothing to hide, I’m all about sharing my tips and tricks. Well brown sugar is the trick, specially when you combine all 3 using caster sugar, light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. Something in brown sugar that gives your fudge type texture to the cookies which makes them soft and chewy.

As well as my normal Jam recipe, all the teachers and helpers from different kids clubs also got a Cookie Mix cone bag with a little tag with instructions – which means they can can make them when they want! I like making homemade gifts, I feel it gives a better touch, although they may end up throwing them away anyway!

Cookies are one of those foods that can be eaten as a snack, dessert, elevenses, even as late night munchies! They keep well and last about week probably more but in my house you would be lucky if they last more than 4-5 days.
