Mango milkshake is an all time favourite amongst the kids and the Hubster, as you might have already guess with the Mango Lassi post! Cream, ice cream, milk and mango – what’s not to love? You could actually switch out the fruit to strawberries, raspberries or even banana but mango seems to be our household favourite.
Mangos are full of goodness, lots of it such as pre-biotic fiber, vitamins and minerals. Most importantly poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds which have been known to protect against certain cancers like colon, breast, leukaemia and even prostate.
This is not your everyday milkshake, as with 2 1/2 scoops ice cream and cream it’s highly indulgent, it’s like one of the those desserts you order at a restaurant knowing that you mind need to go for a run in the morning!
I love adding fresh mangos, now you could add mango pulp from a tin or pouch but it just doesn’t taste the same, as fresh ripe mangos have the wonder sweetness! There is no need to add any sugar as the vanilla ice cream and mango give the perfect amount of sweetness.
My daughter is a huge fan of mangoes specially the saffron Mangos, which are the ones with the yellow skin and medium to small in size. In Mango season it’s must a unwritten rule, that we need to have these shakes at least once a week – specially over the summer holidays!
